Yoga Has Been My Lifeline...
Oslo, Norway
For me, yoga has been lifesaving...
It has helped me heal from old traumas and come home to myself. Every time I roll out my mat, it becomes a sacred space, my sanctuary. Through the rough times in life, yoga has been my anchor, my free space, my home. A safe place to return to when life feels messy, hard, or painful.
A quiet place to breathe, to feel, to grieve, and to heal.
On my mat, I find room to develop, to rest, to meet myself in my own time. It is where my deeper self awakens, where my spiritual connection feels alive. Yoga has become my safety line, my anchor in life.
I am a mother and the main caregiver for two children with special needs. I am a social worker, a caregiver on many levels. I have lived with a man who struggled with addiction, and I have experienced physical and psychological violence and sexual assault. All of this led to deep exhaustion and fibromyalgia. Yoga gives me the healing I need to function, to keep showing up for life, for my children, and for those I support.
Within my practice and the yoga community around me, I found safety again. I learned to trust my strength and to make life choices that align with my deeper values. In my healing journey, I believe talk therapy is important, but there are layers beyond words: the body’s memories, the nervous system’s patterns, the stories that live within us. Yoga opens the door to those layers.
It gives us a way to release, to change, to find freedom.
Through yoga, I have learned to listen deeply. To rebuild trust in my body, my heart, and myself. I feel guided by my ancestors and guardians. I have found the humble strength to walk my path honestly, fiercely full yet soft. Yoga reminds me that it is all about kindness, in a no-bullshit way.
Yoga gives me tools and direction for being a better human, for myself, for my family, and for those around me. It shows me every day how to move through the world in a way that causes less harm.
I believe yoga, in all its forms, is a divine source of kindness and connection between humans and between us and nature. It strengthens us so we can move through life with grace, clarity, and dignity.
Yoga helps me carry deep strength in a softer way.
