Why I’m Thankful to Be Alive

Stian
Nøsen, Norway

In many ways, I had given up on life...

...after struggling with substance abuse for many years.

I didn’t believe there was any hope left for me. I felt I had wasted so much time, and I was lost. There was no joy in life, and I couldn’t imagine living with what I had put my body through. I felt no gratitude for being alive.

By coincidence, I met someone who introduced me to yoga. They taught me how to breathe, connect with my body, and accept life as it had become. For the first time in over twenty years, I felt gratitude. I became thankful for being alive again, without any substances.

Today, yoga is an essential part of my daily routine. It helps me face everyday life with more positivity and be the best version of myself. I am a better person for practicing yoga, and I now have the opportunity to help others who are struggling.
