Your Teachers

Scott Johnson Stillpoint Yoga London BridgeScott Johnson has been teaching at Stillpoint Yoga London since its inception in 2009. He is one of only a few Ashtanga teachers to both be authorised in the primary and intermediate series by Manju Jois and be given senior teacher status by John Scott.

Scott has been practising yoga since 1998, and teaching Ashtanga yoga since 2003.In that time he has supported and helped many people discover deeper ways to access their own unique patterns of movement and personal healing from pain. He uses his personal experience of teaching yoga and mindfulness to inform how to meet someone in a myriad of different ways. He teaches national and internationally promoting therapeutic ways of practicing Ashtanga Yoga through a mindful lens.

Scott is registered as a senior yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance UK and has also undergone extensive training with Clear Mind International, gaining their level 1, 2 & 3 certificate in Mindfulness and Compassion. Scott’s years of dedicated and committed teaching each morning has led Stillpoint to become a highly respected central London Ashtanga yoga shala. He meets everyone who comes and looks to create long-term relationships, integrating the practice of yoga and embodied mindfulness as a way of meeting the world.

Petri RaisanenPetri Räisänen (born August 13, 1967) is internationally known and respected Ashtanga Yoga teacher. Petri started practicing Ashtanga yoga in 1989 and teaching in 1991. He is co-owner and director of Ashtanga Yoga Helsinki, Finland, which he found with his friend and colleague, Juva Javanainen, in 1997. Since 2000 Petri has been teaching Ashtanga Yoga internationally. For the last 11 years he has been teaching together with his wife Wambui Njuguna-Räisänen. Petri and Wambui are living in Odeceixxe, Portugal with their two sons Sesam and Sumu.

Petri has been a regular practitioner in Mysore India since 1996 and he received a teacher authorisation from K. Pattabhi Jois and Sharath Rangaswamy (Jois) in 2001. In his yogic path Petri has studied with many Ashtanga yoga instructors such as Derek Ireland (his first “guru”), Radha Warrell, Lino Miele, Gwendoline Hunt, Eddie Stern, R. Sharath Jois and K. Pattabhi Jois. Since 2017 Petri has been studying pranayama and yoga philosophy with A.G.Mohan and Indra Mohan.

Petri focuses on integrating healing and therapy with yoga, meeting student’s individual needs and guiding their progress. Petri’s yoga pose adjustments are gentle, effective, therapeutic and, according to some, almost magical, and originate (besides his own practice and teaching) from his past work as a traditional Finnish folk healer and naturopath. His friendly, relaxed behaviour and intuitive perception give an open, energetic and meditative atmosphere to his classes.
